From the wiki, you can be:Įach one has a unique combination of stats (endurance, speed, melee, firearms), special ability, traits and starting items. The class variety is one of the most important features, it feels so wide that, more than anything, it reminds me of the strategy game Dominions where you can choose dozens of very different nations. It's this freedom of choice and the systemic 'everything' that make people say it's a '2d Deus Ex'. Npcs move around, cops watches for crimes, thieves steal poo poo, several factions may fight between them, and you have ample freedom to use force, stealth, hacking, bribery, special items and more to get poo poo done. The combat is in real time but it's pretty 'ehh', spammy and simple, it's these city districts, and more exactly what happen in them and the things you can do are the real star of the show. Lots of adjustable settings and game customization (>50 game mutators, customizable lists of in game rewards and traits)Īs you may know, Streets of Rogue is a indie 2d roguelite game with simplistic graphics, where you play a member of the resistance who has to defeat the corrupt mayor of the city, doing a series of objectives through procedurally generated city districts. I started playing a few days ago, so you can accompany me in the journey that this game supposes :P. So this is coming late, as the game was released one year ago (and I think it had 2 years of EA period?), but better late than never. Streets of Rogue prides itself on being “the most insanely varied game ever made.” I mean, how many games let you play as a 16-bit hyper-intelligent gorilla in a rogue-lite? Intelligent apes, sure.Somehow, no one has bothered in making a thread about this game, despite being something that I think lots of goons will love, as we usually appreciate a game with emergent gameplay and lots of player freedom. This includes a soldier, a stealthy doctor, and even a “hyper-intelligent gorilla.” As mentioned before, there’s a DLC pack to add to this list of playable characters. ![]() You and your friends can choose from over 20 different characters. If you don’t want to do it alone, there’s 4-player online and local co-op modes as well. In terms of the enemies, they will be composed of “super-advanced artificial intelligence.” You’ll have to assert your human dominance by outwitting these supercomputers. It can also mean that you might not leave your room for a while. This means it has a lot of gameplay variety. ![]() The Streets of Rogue cities that you’ll fight your way through will be randomly generated. Do you prefer fighting back by hacking computers? More power to you! If you don’t want to hurt anyone in-game because life is hard enough, you can do that. You get to choose how to go about your given missions. ![]() The developers describe Streets of Rogue as “ Nuclear Throne meets Deus Ex, mixed with the anarchy of GTA.” Inspired by games like Binding of Isaac, Streets of Rogue is an action-packed, top-down rouge-lite with “free-form, experimentation-driven, emergent gameplay elements.” If you think that description is nuts, wait until you see the gameplay. If you’ve yet to buy the game, you can kill two birds with one purchase and get the Streets of Rogue: Character Pack Edition Bundle, which includes the main game as well as the DLC. This indie rogue-lite sim by tinyBuild will let you do just that! After receiving critical acclaim on Steam, Streets of Rogue is now available on Windows Store!Īlso, you can grab the Character Pack DLC, which introduces 6 new playable characters. Sometimes you need to take a break from dialogue-heavy games and play something that’ll let you go absolutely crazy.
